Senior Accounting Officer

Job description

As a Senior Accounting Officer at Vacanceselect you are part of an international finance team. The team in Alkmaar consists of Dutch and English-speaking colleagues and you also have contact with our colleagues in Scotland, France and Germany. Because you are part of a team in the Netherlands but cooperate with a lot of international contacts it is important that you speak fluently Dutch and English.


Op a daily basis you are leading the debtors accounting and bookkeeping process for multiple entities (online sales, refunds, vouchers, revenue recognition, discounts, etc.). It is important that you work independently in day-to-day tasks, are take ownership for the work performed. Futhermore your job will exist out of:

  • Preparation, analysis and reporting of the accounting transactions, ensuring accuracy and compliance with accepted accounting policies and principles;
  • Maintaining and performing an effective system of internal controls;
  • Involvement in other areas of accounting during the monthly closures (fixed assets, taxes, etc.);
  • Coaching junior colleagues on their part of the work (cash, payables, etc.) and review of their work performed;
  • Work with external auditors’ requests and support the preparation of statutory financial statements;
  • Helping other team members with more complex areas (e.g., consolidation, automation of manual processes).

Requirements

What kind of person do we have in mind for the job?

  • Familiar with B2C market (e.g., internet sales);
  • Good knowledge of Dutch GAAP and VAT4;
  • Strong Excel skills;
  • Experience with ERP system is a pre;
  • Knowledge and experience with PowerBI is a pre;
  • Innovative mindset – desire and ability to automate routine work;
  • Minimum Bachelor/HBO in Accounting or equivalent certification;
  • Minimum of 3-4 years of relevant experience in a similar accounting role;
  • Fluent in English and Dutch language;
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills;
  • Ability to work in a team, supporting and coaching other colleagues.
